A
native North Carolinian, Alex has lived in the High Country for over 20 years.
Since first moving to Boone to attend Appalachian State University, receiving a
BA in Anthropology with a minor in Sustainable Development, Alex has traveled
all over the country, working with various builders and architects in the
construction industry before ultimately deciding to move back to the mountains
to pursue a Masters in Appalachian Studies (received in 1999). While working on
his MA, Alex used his time away from school to study as an apprentice to master
luthier Alfred Michels, building and repairing violins at Solitude Violin Shop
in Ashe County, and to obtain his real estate broker’s license, where he could
apply his knowledge of the Appalachian region and the Boone area with the
knowledge gained through his experience as a builder. Although he still builds
instruments and teaches music part-time at Appalachian State University, Alex
has worked full time as a REALTOR for the past three years and we’ve been glad
to have him as part of our family at Vincent Properties since the spring of
’07.
Also, while in graduate school, Alex
met his wife of three years, Chanel. They live just outside of Boone in the
Bamboo area with their two dogs and the newest member the family, their daughter
Claudia.
Alex is a licensed real estate
professional in North Carolina and Tennessee, and is also
one of only two Certified EcoBrokers® in the Avery, Ashe, and Watauga
MLS systems. Certified EcoBrokers® complete a detailed program that
educates real estate professionals on topics such as energy efficiency, solar
energy, indoor air quality, water quality, radon, and green building programs.
As a Certified EcoBroker, Alex is uniquely positioned to market green homes by
understanding the benefits of energy-efficient and environmental features in
homes, such as the homes you build, and he can communicate the value of these
features to prospective buyers. Alex is also able to effectively reach the green
market and the average consumer who is interested in reducing their monthly
utility bills and increasing home comfort and health while benefiting the
environment at the same time.
In
our community, Alex volunteers with the Watauga Youth Network and serves on the
board for the Watauga County chapter of Habitat for Humanity,
where he assists in the search for suitable properties as well as chairing the
ReStore committee. Alex is licensed in NC and TN.
